From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: at 1320 zulu, 08/07/96, flight #2, mdw-ewr, experienced a runaway beverage cart on landing rollout. When engine reversers were applied on landing rollout a beverage cart, stowed in the #2 stowage bin in the aft galley, broke loose and traveled the full distance from aft galley to flight deck without making contact with any aisle seat arm rest. Consequently, the cart contacted the flight deck door at a velocity that resulted in the flight deck door breaking and being torn from its hinges. Both door and cart came to rest against the back of the second officer's seat. This occurred prior to the s/o 80 knot callout. The continuation of landing rollout and taxi to the gate was accomplished without further incident. The s/o was taken to the hospital for examination and no injury was discovered other than a slightly bruised right shoulder. privacy data omitted
