From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Fuel inbalance en route. Diverted. On final tried dump wingtip tanks. One tank dumped only. Cable had jammed. (-23) pilot departed mid-continent airport (ict), wichita, KS, enroute to childress (cds), TX. Aircraft developed a fuel feed problem from left wing tip to fuselage tank. Pilot made a precautionary landing at Elk City (elk), OK to check out fuel feed problem. On approach with right wing tip empty and left wing tip full lost directional control and attempted to jettison tip tank fuel. Left wing did not jettison and aircraft hit hard left wing first and veered off the runway to the left.
