From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Lost directioanl control landing in moderate crosswind. Ground looped. Failed use proper crosswind procedures. (-23) on 31 January, 1998, at approximately 12:00 eastern standard time, Mr. Philippe le scao while piloting a Piper, PA-18-150, N5975Z made an x-wind landing on runway 29 to New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport (evb). During the roll out phase, the tail wheel touch down on the runway caused the aircraft to veer right due to the right rudder required to compensate for the right quartering x-wind. The pilot attempted a go around by applying full power and left rudder. The aircraft turned quickly to the left off of the runway towards a large tree and drainage ditch. The pilot made the decision to apply full left rudder to avoid the tree causing the aircraft to ground loop. Extensive damage to the right wing and a broken right main landing gear was the result of the accident. There were no injuries to the pilot or passenger.
