From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The crew of N922BS was on IFR flight plan transporting cargo from oma to gri. A few minutes after departure, they encountered icing conditions and noticed the windsheild anti-ice system was inoperative. They stated their visibility was obscured from accumulated ice. They continued on to gri and made an instrument approach to gri. The crew reported their forward visibility was still restricted after they broke out of the clouds. On the approach the crew stated they encountered gusty winds, turbulence, and some wind shear. The aircraft landed short of the runway and damaged some approach lights at the Grand Island airport. There was not damage found to the aircraft other than a possible small cut on the tire tread. The inspector requested and received pilot statements, the aircraft mechanical discrepancy log for the tks windshield system with the action taken for the maintenance release, weather reports and pilot reports that substantiated the report information provided by the crew of N922BS.

As the FAA filed it
