From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 9/16/99, N709TA, a Beech jet 400, operated by Raytheon travel, departed from ytz enroute to bos. While enroute, one of the passengers reported smoke in the cabin. The crew diverted to syr and landed on runway 28 at 1106 local time. The aircraft stopped on taxiway and all occupants evacuated the aircraft without incident. Raytheon maintenance stated two possible reasons. First was coffee spilled along the wall panel that dripped on the bleed air line that ran back to the air conditioning and the second was a gray pvc pipe that went to the aircraft side windows for defogging. The line was resting on the same bleed air line and had started to melt. The aircraft was ferried to acy to have the line replaced.
