From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On October 17, 1999, Continental express airline, flight 4108, an Emb-145LR, was enroute from mci to cle, when a smoke warning indication was noted in the rear cargo compartment. An emergency was declared, and the pilot returned the aircraft to mci without further incident. Inspection of the aircraft revealed that the left bleed system was found to be leaking in the cargo bay. The seals on the bleed tube gama joint were found to be hardened and broken, allowing the retaining sleeve to fall out of position. Subsequent damage occurred to wiring going to the bleed leak sensor at the gama joint. The aircraft was ferried to btv where maintenance crews replaced the affected seals, gama joint clamp, and performed repairs to damaged wiring. The aircraft was returned to service. With this report, incident # CE2000AC0001 is considered closed.
