From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)During approach the landing gear was selected down. The landing gear did not extend and the pilot attempted to get a down and locked indication. The pilot was unable to get a down indication and attempted to retract the gear for a water landing. The gear would not move from the unsafe position. The pilot elected to land the a/c on the grass between the runway and taxiway., as the a/c was slowing it hit a rise in the ground causing loss of control of the a/c with the wing striking the ground. The ground impact caused the spar to fail. An investigation into the landing gear failure will be conducted to determine the cause of the failure. The operator has been notified the FAA will be present during the investigation.
