What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) The aircraft was taxiing in after landing and had stopped to yield to another aircraft on an intersecting taxiway (per ATC instructions), when it was struck from behind by a taxiing SNJ-6, N453WA, that had landed just after the 172. The SNJ-6 PIC reported that he initially had the taxiing 172 in sight after landing, but lost sight of it when he turned off the runway after it. The SNJ-6 PIC stated the he contiued taxiing because he had "assumed" the 172 was continuing to taxi. The collision occurred before the SNJ-6 PIC could reestablish visual contact with the 172. The SNJ-6 sustained minor damage, while the tail of the 172 sustained structural damage. There were no injuries. (Additional information contained in related 8020-23 for SNJ-6, N453WA).
