From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On January 9, 2002 at approximately 1700Z time, a Piper PA-23-160, registration number N3289P, flown by Mr. Anthony hodge, FAA certificated private pilot, departed hicks airport (T67) on a local pleasure flight. The pilot reported that the gear up safe light failed to illuminate after takeoff when the gear retraction lever was activated. The pilot reported that, after cycling the landing gear several times, he could not determine if the landing gear was in a safe position for landing, he elected to land that aircraft at Fort Worth Alliance Airport. Upon landing at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport, the right main landing gear partially collapsed, and the landing was completed without further incident. Investigation of the landing gear showed evidence of failure of the landing gear drag link and associated hardware. The owner operator will submit a m or d report to document the failure of associated parts. This incident is closed.
