From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 01/15/02 N941MA, MU-2B-60, s/n 744SA, was cleared at 14 NM and 3500 MSL for the rwy 27 visual approach by cvg tower. The pilot stated he began slowing the aircraft for the approach and lowered the landing gear. The pilot stated the wind was gusting and slowed his approach more than expected so he raised the landing gear to gain airspeed. Subsequently the pilot never lowered the gear after that and the airplane contacted rwy 27 without the gear extended. The aircraft skidded to a stop resting on rwy 27. There was no post incident fire and the pilot who was the sole occupant received no injuries. Pilot statement supports this attachment.
