From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot had departed Soldotna (sxq) airport in the morning with light winds. The wind came up suddenly about 1:00 or 2:00 pm, out of the nne, with gusts estimated at 20-25 mph. When the pilot returned at 3:00 pm, the AWOS reported 0508KTS, and the direction was varying from a head wind to a tail wind. At the accident scene I found the right wheel hub broken. Counseled pilot on wind technique.
