From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On July 19, 2002 N9B a sonerai, lts serial #1 piloted by david bilgri certificate #335406775 was departing Dodge county, Juneau, WI for a local flight. While on the take off roll the aircraft canopy came open. The canopy was not properly closed (according to the pilot). The canopy extended to the full open position to the right. While doing so it created an extreme amount of drag and interruption of the airflow, causing the aircraft to enter a stalled condition. The pilot applied stall recovery procedures at 200 feet while in a right hand turn cross wind of runway 8. After the recovery the aircraft did not have adequate altitude to clear terrain. The aircraft impacted the terrain suffering substantial damage.
