From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Went to gai to inspect aircraft N9669K, a Piper pa 32R-300 which was setting off the right side of runway 32 in the grassy area between the runway and taxiway. The aircraft was approximately 2000' down runway 32. Meet with the pilot, william Hughes at the airport restaurant to discuss what had happened. Mr. Hughes stated that he was on a flight just to check out equipment in the airplane. He said that he went out and did one take-off and landing and decided to go back and do another one. On the second landing he said that he just forgot the gear and when he pulled the throttle back and sarted to flare the horn went off. At this point the pilot realized the gear was not down and he quickly reached over and put the gear handle in the down position but it was too late because the prop had started to strike the runway and the aircraft had settled down on to the runway. He slid a few hundred feet and went off the right side of the runway. He shut off all the switches and exited the aircraft. Aircraft has current annual, 91.411, 91.413, 91.207 (d) inspections.
