From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pic/border patrol agent jonathan chad stevens was piloting a border patrol helicopter, assisting border patrol agents on the ground, who were attempting to find and detain a group of illegal aliens. While maneuvering the helicopter in a remote canyon area, approximately 150 ft above ground, stevens was looking down at the canyon floor when a main rotor blade struck a wire suspended above the canyon. The wire was severed and the helicopter made a precautionary landing near the scend. Following an inspection by border patrol maintenance personnel, a main rotor blade was replaced and the aircraft returned to base.
