From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Received notification of inbound BE-99 to oak with an unsafe NLG indication. Visual observation from another aircraft in flight was that the NLG was swinging backward and forward. I witnessed the aircraft execute a normal touchdown; the pilot holding the aircraft nose off the ground as long as possible. The NLG appeared to be angled aft approximately 45 degrees. Upon NLG tire contact with the runway, normal roll-out ensued. After rolling perhaps 100 yards, the pilot appeared to lose directional control of the airplane, at which point, it careened to the left; departing the runway. The NLG collapsed as the aircraft entered the soft grassy area. The aircraft slid approximately 30 ft. before coming to a stop. The pilot exited without injury. Immediate examination of the NLG upon raising the aircraft revealed a broken NLG trunnion and broken NLG retraction cylinder piston.
