From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 4/20/03 pilot took off from auburn, WA and landed at tekoa, WA. He was picked up by relatives and went to their farm to check the condition of the grass landing strip. The pilot then returned and flew to the farm and landed. He then took his step sister on a sight seeing trip around the area and landed at st. maries, ID for fuel. He topped off the tanks. He then returned to the farm and on landing the left brake locked up and the aircraft tipped over on its back. The aircraft was equipped with shoulder harness and neither occupant was injured. The wheel skid marks were about 150 feet long. Inspection of the pilot's left brake master cylinder showed the spring that keeps the parking brake locking tab down (unless the parking brake is applied), was hung up on the master cylinder shaft and was not pushing on the locking tab. There was apparently a burr on the shaft. I was able to duplicate the locked brake by application of the toe brakes, which intermittently picked up the parking brake tab because the spring was not pushing it down against the top of the master cylinder. When it did, it locked the brake. M&d will be submitted. See attached photo.

As the FAA filed it
