What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot was approaching to land at his Private strip in Marengo, Illinois. Winds were northeasterly at about 18 knots. Upon touchdown the aircrafts nose gear was sheared off and the left main gear was sheared off just above the axle. The aircraft flipped over and came to rest on its back. Both main spars appear bent (downward) with the left wing spar showing more deformation than the right side wing spar. Ground scarring indicates that the ose gear and main tires impacted the ground along the same line, it appears that the aircraft struck in a very nose low attitude. Trees line the approach end of the runway on the north side, the winds were gusty and swirling which may have contributed to the accident. privacy data omitted
