From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot attempted landing on private grass airstrip, with public road approximately 20 foot away from approach end of runway threshold. Pilot stated that owner told him east end of strip was wet but west end was not, owner had placed white x in middle of runway. Pilot stated that he used full flaps and executed a short field landing but a truck, previously screened by trees along the road, suddenly appeared in front of runway when aircraft was on short final. Aircraft wheel struck load in back of truck, pitching aircraft down onto end of runway where it flipped over. Onscene investigation showed aircraft flaps were fully retracted.
