From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Paquin stated that this was his first solo flight in a glider, and third flight that day. Mr. Paquin flew a normal traffic pattern and checked (extended and retracted) the spoilers on downwind. Mr. Paquin stated he was a little high on the base leg and slipped the glider to lose altitude. Mr. Paquin stated he touched down on the runway prior to the runway end, then bounced over a dirt birm and into the cornfield. The glider went slightly more than 1 fuselage length into the cornfield. Mr. Paquin stated he was not fatigued prior to the accident. Mr. Paquin stated he did not deploy the flaps for landing but was unsure whether he deployed the spoilers.
