From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Frederic g. sherman, holder of airline transport pilot certificate #1557278, was pilot in command of N1227M on a local VFR flight in the vicinity of Camdenton Memorial Airport (H21), on November 6, 2003. While entering the downwind leg for a landing, Mr. Sherman failed to lower the landing gear. The gear warning system failed to warn Mr. Sherman of a gear unsafe situation, and Mr. Sherman landed N1227M gear up on runway 33. Damage to the aircraft is minor and Mr. Sherman, the sole occupant, was not injured. During post incident retract tests, the landing gear operated normally, but the gear warning system did not function properly. Incident privacy data omitted is closed with the report.
