From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Previously N74545 experienced mechanical failure and the gear collapsed while taxiing clear of the runway on September 30, 2003. Waiting for repairs to his aircraft, the pilot had only flown approximately one hour within the 6 months prior to this incident. The lack of recent flight time, a busy traffic pattern, and a request by ATC for a short approach contributed to his becoming distracted and forgetting to lower the landing gear. He accepted the short approach; by the time he realized he was in trouble he was unable to go around. Pilot stated he became distracted and forgot to lower the landing gear.
