From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Delta flight 1640 lost the tread from the right inboard main landing gear tire recap. On rotation the crew felt a vibration. Shortly after that there was a hydraulic pressure warning, a and b system, then the master caution came on. The crew manually lowered the MLG, did a tower fly by and landed. The aircraft was towed back to the gate. No injuries to the crew or passengers were reported. It was found that the tire tread had damaged several hyd lines in the right MLG wheel well, causing a total loss of hyd fluid in both a and b systems. The flap and forward edge of the wheel well were damaged. The NTSB will be involved in the investigation.
