From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was attempting to land at aurora, MO (2H2), when he realized the nose gear was not down and locked. Pilot elected to go to Monett, MO (M58), his home base, and land. Aircraft landed with the nose gear unlocked, damaging the prop, engine cowl, and nose gear doors. Owner stated the landing gear is hydraulically operated with bungee cord assist to pull the gear into the locked position. Pilot believes the bungee cord was weak and could not pull the nose gear into the locked position against the air stream. The gear worked normally when the aircraft was placed on jacks.
