From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot took off from cedar mills marina in right to left crosswind. Pilot reported that he stayed low to build airspeed. Runway is lined on both sides by trees that sheltered the aircraft from crosswind. After clearing runway pilot lost control and cartwheeled, left wing low, into lake approximately 50 feet off of the end of the runway. Witnesses report that the aircraft was between 5 and 25 feet altitude when pilot lost control. A number of similar sized aircraft took off from same runway without incident immediately before and after accident took place.
