From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) According to the pilot he had not landed at his Private strip in 2 to 3 months. He flew over landing strip, heading east, to familiarize himself with the strip and ensure it was safe to land. He did a 180 and turned back for his approach. When he turned to land the engine quit, surged once then quit again. He thought he could land safely. As he approached the landing strip the landing gear clipped a tree at the beginning of the runway. The a/c lost all momentum and slammed into the field, the a/c ending up in the corn field.
