From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While in flight from franklin county state airport located in highgate VT (fso) to upper cumberland regional airport in sparta TN (srb) the aircraft had an engine failure that caused the pilot to make an emergency landing on a farm in the town of Chazy NY. The pilot attempted to land in a large field but landed short in a rough uncut pasture. The aircraft proceeded across the pasture where it hit a creek bank tearing off the landing gear and the impact forced the engine into the fuselage. It continued on into the next pasture some 50 feet where it came to an abrupt stop. The pilot the sole occupant was uninjured but the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
