What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Airman states he was landing to northwest on a grass strip, as he had done many times before. Although the wind was light and variable, he felt the aircraft sink as if in a windshear. The airman failed to maintain airspeed on final approach. The aircraft struck the ground short of the runway. The left main gear collapsed and the left wing received substantial damage. The pilot was the only person on board. He was not injured.
