From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot attempted to take off to the south at 15:45 LCL MDT. Wind was variable and gusty at the time of departure. Eyewitnesses saw the aircraft become airborne and begin to climb, then, to descend rapidly at approximately mid field. The pilot elected to abort the climb and attempted to land in the remaining runway. The aircraft impacted the ground very hard in a level flight attitude resulting in extensive airframe damage. The aircraft continued to slide to the southeast edge of the airfield before coming to rest. The occupants exited the aircraft. No injuries were reported, and, no post crash fire occurred.
