What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot states that he forgot to extend the landing gear prior to landing his aero commander 114 (AC114). He performed landing checklist to the point that he verbalized to himself "gear and flaps to go." He became distracted looking for, and following, other aircraft and neglected to complete the checklist. The landing gear warning horn did not sound until he retarded the power in the landing flare. Pilot accepts full responsibility for this incident. He has been counseled regarding the proper use of checklists. He is cooperative and no further action is thought to be appropriate.
