From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot in command of champion flight 2701 called ground control for taxi from piedmont north FBO. The tower tape indicates he was given taxi instructions to runway 12R, with no taxiway specified. As the plane departed the ramp, the PIC elected to use the hotel taxiway. The pilot proceeded to taxi past the zulu taxiway, which is the last taxiway with access to the runway. The tower observed he had proceeded too FAR. The tower asked if he could maneuver or if they should send a tug to assist repositioning the aircraft. The PIC elected to maneuver the aircraft without assistance. Prior to turning left he was observed attempting to power back the aircraft on thehotel taxiway. The PIC abandoned that maneuver when it appeared he could not get all the way back to the zulu taxiway. The aircraft taxied a short distance on hotel and made a left turn onto the ramp access road to security airpark. The PIC taxied up a short incline. The aircraft is now located on a portion of the security airpark apron which is not stressed for a B-727, nor is there sufficient space for a safe turn. The PIC did not stop, nor call the tower for assistance. Witnesses observed his actions to turn the airplane around. They included an unmonitored power back to within twenty feet of a general aviation hangar. The PIC utilized forward thrust to stop the power back and move the airplane forward. The thrust was excessive, and did substantial damage to the hangar, its contents and injured an occupant in the hangar.

As the FAA filed it
