From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Upon approach to Knoxville, TN the Beechcraft 200, operating under FAR 135, landing gear indicator (lights) indicated that landing gear was not locked in the down position. Pilot checked lights and proceeded with emergency procedures for unsafe gear warning. This included a fly by the tower and manual extension. Neither of these rectified the problem. After "another" fly by the pilots circled and set the aircraft up for landing. Once the runway was made propellers were feathered and touchdown completed. The left landing gear immediately collapsed causing the aircraft to slide off center line. No injuries occurred during the evacuation. Investigation showed that tapered pin in torque tube had fallen out and from all evidence the nut on the end of the pin was improperly installed. In addition, a second tapered pin was found lying in the wing along with a circular cut where a clamp was rubbing against the torque tube. This would have eventually caused gear failure.

As the FAA filed it
