What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot was flying the schweitzer sgs 2-33A glider approximately 5 miles east of the Hood River airport in some ridge soaring conditions. The wind blew the glider downwind of the ridge into some striking conditions. Given the sink and approximately 20 knot headwind the glider did not have enough altitude to return to the lift conditions. An off airport landing was made in a clearing. No one was injured and the aircraft received damage to the leading edge of the right wing, leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer, tears in the fuselage belly fabric, and a bent front skid.
