From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft maintenance personnel had just completed 100 hour inspection on airship at Beverly Municipal Airport (bvy). During runup a gust of wind caused the main gear to strike the ground with excessive force. The impact caused the rudder control chain to be jarred off its sprocket unbeknown to the maintenance personnel. Pilot subsequently departed bvy on a flight but did not complete a flight control check. Pilot immediately realized he had no rudder control. Pilot made an emergency landing in 60 foot tall trees 5.2 miles e. se of bvy with only slight damage to the airbag fabric and gondola bottom fabric cover.
