From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was destroyed after impacting terrain during a forced landing following loss of engine power about 1 nautical mile southwest of Sanderson field (shn), Shelton, WA. An on-site examination of the wreckage revealed that the right fuel tank was breached and no fuel was found in the left wing tank or aft aux fuel tank. First responders, who arrived at the accident site about 15 minutes after the crash, reported no smell of fuel in the area upon their arrival. A witness to the crash reported that he observed the accident aircraft in a slow descent toward the runway, then observed the airplane pitch up, followed by the right wing dropping. The aircraft then entered a spiral just prior to impacting the ground. There was no post-crash fire.
