From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot stated he left haleyville airport (1M4) flew to courtland (9A4) and fueled up. He then flew north to Tennessee river and the engine started losing power. He then headed to Muscle Shoals (MSL) airport. At about 100 feet from runway 11 he attempted to lower the landing gear and nothing happened. At about 10 feet he turned off the runway and landed in the grass. After inspecting the aircraft it was noted the #3 cylinder had separated from the engine case and the intake manifold tube fell off and had lodged into the nose gear area resulting in landing gear failing to extend. The mechanic who recently overhauled the engine admitted he did not properly torque the #3 cylinder. privacy data omitted
