From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot departed merrill field for the deska river. After crossing cook inlet, his aircraft engine started to run rough. So after switching fuel tanks, checking carburetor heat, making sure his engine primer was locked, checking his magnetos and his mixture, he still elected to make a precautionary landing in what appeared to be a clear field. Touching down he realized that he was landing in knee high grass, and as the aircraft rolled out it went up on its nose and stopped and eventually flipped over very slowly.
