From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On June 30, 2007, while making a simulated power off 180 degrees approach to the airport, N41585, a Piper PA-28R-200, began to go into a stall just above the end of runway 35L at the Lubbock international airport (klbb). The commercial student pilot overshot the runway, then tried to correct by bringing the aircraft back to the centerline of the runway. The student tried to maintain altitude without adding sufficient power. The aircraft eventually stalled over the right side of the runway and forced the aircraft to impact the ground with the left main gear. The aircraft taxied to the hub city aviation ramp under its own power. While performing the post-flight inspection the instructor noticed there was substantial damage to the left wing of the aircraft. There were no injuries to the instructor or pilot. The weather was clear. No flight plan was filed.
