What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) After returning from a local flight in the vicinity of Truckee, CA the pilot entered the pattern at 1000 ft. AGL. On final, a side slip was used to compensate for the crosswind conditions. The pilot stated that the aircraft was flared normally (approximately 2 feet over the runway) and touched down in the middle of the runway with the airframe aligned with the runway. Upon touchdown, the landing gear collapsed and the glider slid in a straight line on the runway for 250 feet before stopping. Two witnesses observed the landing. One witness said the landing was normal and upon landing, the gear collapsed. The other said that all was normal until approx. 3' AGL, at which point the glider dropped to the runway and the gear collapsed.
