From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During an instructional flight and on short final to rwy 21 the CFI states a gust of wind picked up his tail which caused the rt wing to dip and the aircraft to drift rt of centerline. Just as he was leveling the aircraft he saw he was to the rt of centerline and headed for some 40 or 40 foot tall trees in his current flt path. The next thing he knew the rt wing struck a tree which was not in his field of view. The glider immediately flipped over and landed on a dirt road on its back about 50' north or the beginning of rwy 21.
