What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) N551GF was cleared for the ILS runway 5 at coe. Upon acceptance of the clearance N551GF advised that he would be circling for runway 23 at coe. The pilot in command reported that upon touchdown the aircraft began to hydroplane. The PIC attempted to control the aircraft with thrust. No attempt to use the brakes was made due to his belief that the aircraft was already upon a hydroplane, thereby making the brakes ineffective. The aircraft began to drift to the right of the centerline and exited the runway on the right side striking a runway identifier light and runway 'distance to go' sign. The aircraft slid sideways off of the runway, right side of the fuselage moving forward. The nose wheel separated from the aircraft approx. 300 feet after exiting the runway. The aircraft came to a stop approx. 600 feet form the point of exiting the hard surface of the runway.
