From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft departed Tulsa international (tul) airport at 2240HRS CST enroute to wiley post (pwa). After departure tul tower called pilot and he reported a gyro problem. Tower gave the pilot a left turn heading 250 degrees, with an assigned altitude of 6,000FT direct to pwa. Tower tried to recontact pilot after radar showed N712AT turning right into a 360 degree turn. Pilot continued right turn, last call at 2243HRS "he had another problem now." No further contact; left, right wing and aft control surfaces separated from aircraft inflight prior to main fuselage impacting terrain. Further information may be available after accident reconstruction.
