From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot and passengers (2) boarded the aircraft with the intention of flight. The aircraft would not start due to a weak battery. Pilot set parking brake and instructed the passenger in the front seat to hold the brakes while he attempted to hand prop the aircraft. It did not start on the first try and the pilot set the throttle to one-third open. Tried the hand prop maneuver again and the engine started. The passenger failed to properly apply brake pressure and the aircraft rolled aggressively toward adjacent t-hangars where it collided with the parked Piper saratoga, N243PS.

As the FAA filed it
