From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On landing, runway 24 at Burley (kbyi), the nose wheel began to shimmy. The shimmy increased as the airplane slowed. The pilot applied aft yoke (pitch up) to reduce the weight on the nose in an effort to reduce the shimmy. The shimmy continued and increased until the nose wheel broke free. The nose dropped and the prop was damaged when it struck the ground. The nose gear fork broke at the top of the radius where the two sides attach to the oleo strut. Signs of corrosion and fatigue exist on both forks where the bare metal exposed.
