What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) The student pilot landed at iwa and was towed to a different location on the ramp due to his not understanding the ramp ground handlers hand signals. Apparently during towing by the tug the steering limits were exceeded, damaging the nose strut steering arm located on the top of the strut. One side of the arm was broken off the steering arm and as a result the rudder cables lost some of their tension and when the pilot took off the ruder would not center requiring rudder input to prevent yawing of the aircraft in flight. The aircraft was landed at ffz without further incident.
