From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) In an interview with the pilot, he stated he "had a propeller strike on takeoff, but was unaware of the strike." He mentioned no vibration in the controls or abnormal readings in the gauges were seen during the flight. He was aware of some damage caused by contact with the ground. The pilot believed he had a downdraft on takeoff which may have caused the propeller strike. After departure, the pilot stated he flew to redmond the have the controllers look at the aircraft to look for damage. None was seen. The pilot then flew to bend, landed safely and saw the damage to the aircraft during a post flight inspection. A trip is planned to look at logbooks and talk to both the mechanic and pilot to gather additional information.
