From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After takeeoff and climbing to 20,000 ft the pilot in command and passengers noticed a burning smell with no visible signs of smoke in the cockpit. The PIC contacted ATC and requested a priority descent back into Boca Raton Airport, on descent the burning smell diminished and the aircraft landed safely. Maintenance inspected the aircraft and found that the cabin temp controller sensor for the heating fan had been damaged and had caused the smoke odor. The cabin temp controller sensor was replaced and a logbook entry was made showing the discrepancy and the corrective action taken. The aircraft was returned to service.
