From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

1 - The crew was operating as pinnacle flight 4338 and had been given a clearance to descend to flight level 280. As they approached flight level 280 they were issued oposite direction trffic, eagle flight 2736, that was climbing to flight level 270. Approaching flight level 280 pinnacle flight 4338 received a TCAS resolution advisory to descend at 2400 ft per minute. They complied with the resolution advisory, which is mandatory, and descended 200 - 300 feet below flight level 280 at which time the resolution advisory reported clear of conflict. Pinnacle flight 4338 stated they had the traffic in sight and immediately climbed back to flight level 280.2 - the incident occurred because the TCAS on both aircraft gave a mandatory resolution advisory due to the rapid verticle closure between the two opposite direction aircraft.3 - no recommendations.4 - no comments.

As the FAA filed it
