From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Student pilot on his first solo cross country flight from pratville, AL (1A9) to mobile downtown, AL (bfm), and return to pratville. While at bfm the pilot contacted his instructor who advised the pilot to land at mgm instead of 1A9 due to cross winds. At the time of arrival at mgm the winds were 330 at 9 with gust to 15. The landing was made to runway 28. The pilot stated after touchdown the aircraft started to slide sideways and heard the tires squeal. The aircraft departed the runway on the left side then struck the landing gear arresting barrier housing with the left main gear.
