From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilot reported he set the itt's at 50 degrees below red line, the propellers were set at 1750 RPM and fuel flows were slightly in excess of 300 pph. Within about 5 minutes into cruse flight, he observed the first anomaly. The right torque gauge began to fluctuate. The itt, N1, ff, and propeller RPM were all normal so he continued to monitor the situation. Within 2 or 3 minutes, he noticed the oil pressure began to drop, but all other gauges we normal and there were no auditory changes in the engine. He got the check list to review the low oil pressure procedure and before he opened to that page, he heard the prop RPM drop. He confirmed that he had a 100 RPM drop on the right engine and at that point, decided to shut down that engine. He retarded the throttle to idle, moved the right condition lever into idle cutoff and feathered the propeller. He landed the aircraft at Mesa-gateway airport in Mesa, AZ (iwa) without incident.
