From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft departed a private grass strip south of Knoxville, TN, for sky ranch, a private grass strip about 3 miles away to the southwest. During the climb out, at an altitude of 400-600 ft, the aircraft engine stopped running. The pilot attempted to restart the engine without success. The pilot navigated the aircraft to an open field for a landing. The aircraft's right wing contacted a tree, spinning the aircraft to the right and coming to rest on a hedgerow in a 69 degree, nose down attitude, 50 yards from the point of contact with the tree. The pilot suffered non-life threatening injures, and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
